BiS is part of the Biomedical Engineering Department at TU/e. Research at BiS is dedicated to understanding and applying basic cell biological principles at the biointerfaces especially for regenerative medicine. The research program is characterized by a holistic approach to both discovery and application, aiming at combining high throughput technologies, computational modeling and experimental cell biology to streamline the wealth of biological knowledge to real clinical applications.

Overnight education in Veldhoven

                                                       camp

On Sunday 5 September, we started the academic year with an overnight bootcamp for the Digital Twins in Health course at camping ‘t Denneke in Veldhoven. Forty five second year TU/e bachelor students participated in games, an information market, a BBQ, camp fire and most importantly, learned about the course structure. Students formed teams, and picked and pitched their medical challenges. The teams will work for half a year to engineer digital twin solutions to problems such as anterior cruciate ligament regeneration, heart arrythmia, type-2 diabetes, scoliosis and catheter-blood vessel interaction.

More information about the course can be found here or by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. We are always on the look-out for enthusiastic teachers, teaching assistants, doctors and entrepreneurs to participate in the course!
